As the aviation security agency has issued a circular regarding Mobile Aadhaar can be used as an identity proof to enter airports, while stating that the identification documents will not be required for minors accompanied by parents.
All the passengers entering the airport must produce identification document and the can produce from these 10 types of documents. some of them are passport, voter ID card, Aadhar or m-Aadhar, Pan Card and Driving Licence.
“In order to ensure that a bonafide passenger is traveling on valid ticket in his/her name and to avoid any controversy any of the following photo identity shall be carried in original.” A passbook issued by a nationalized bank, pension card, disability photo identification and service photo ID card of Central/ State government, PSU, local bodies and private limited company will also be acceptable. Differently abled persons have to produce Disability Photo ID or Medical Certificate.
Students can also show an identity card issued by the government institutes. No id proofs in respect of infants/minor accompanied by their parents/ guardian who is a bonafide passenger having a valid identity proof. If a passenger is not able to furnish one of the ten documents, then there is also an option to provide an identity certificate issued by a group A gazetted officer of central/ state government.
Ministry of Railways has also allowed m-Aadhar, a digital version of the Aadhar card as proof of identification for travelers in any reserved class.
The m-Aadhar is a mobile App launched by the Unique Identification Authority of India on which a person can download his/her Aadhar card. it can be downloaded on the mobile number to which Aadhar has been linked.
To show Aadhar a passenger has to open the app and enter his/her password. “m-Aadhar, when shown by the passenger on his/her mobile after entering the password, should be accepted as a proof of identity for the journey in any reserved class over Indian Railways.”
